The Just Transition to a Low-Carbon Economy: An Indigenous Perspective

Join Crystal Lameman, of the Beaver Lake Cree Nation, for a discussion of the just transition to a low-carbon economy from an Indigenous perspective.

Crystal Lameman is a member of the Beaver Lake Cree Nation, for whom she is a treaty negotiator and communications manager. The Beaver Lake Cree have filed a lawsuit against the Governments of Canada and Alberta for violation of their treaty rights through exploitation of the tar sand in their traditional, ancestral territory.

This lecture is the third in a five-part series of public lectures that accompany the course Leading the Way to a Low-Carbon Future, and is co-sponsored by the Institute for Critical Indigenous Studies. This lecture series has been made possible by the Killam Trusts.
